We are a bit different...

Today I wandered over to the Salt Lake Temple to snap a few pix. I work just one block away. Being that close makes me forget how majestic it really is. Here's one of my fav pix I took today. When I returned to my office the radio was on and a reporter was saying there was going to be a protest there tonight because of prop 8. I really spent some time today thinking about my beliefs. First, I decided that I wish there were no dividing issues. I ran with that thought, and concluded that if there were no dividing issues, either we all believe the same thing or any choice is fine. Choices & beliefs become insignificant. Deep down I believe that our choices & beliefs even in the smallest of moments define us, make us individuals. I am grateful for the guidance of a living Prophet. I often wonder what side of the fence I would stand if I was left to my own understand and did not believe the Lord is behind the Prophets voice. These are defining times and it's only going to get more difficult from here.

You hit it right on. Sometimes it feels hard to justify having an opinion or making a choice about a difficult issue, but just as you said, it's those choices that make up who we are. And we are asked to stand beside ideals that are only going to get more and more "different" from the world. It's scary. But at the sametime, comforting. We've known this day was coming for our whole lives. Now, the little things will prove if we are ready to stand. You're so wonderful for publically sharing your thoughts. Thanks for the uplift today!

Em love the pic and as a Californian watching all of this play out in church, the media, at work and in my community....I can honestly say I wouldn't have cared and voted No on 8. But when the prophet came out and took a stand - it was a very hard thing for me personally to do, because of my own relationships with gay and lesbian friends and family - but I believe he is a Prophet of God and I have been trying to follow his counsel to the best of my ability. Love you and I hope your back is feeling better!
